"American Dreaming"

"I was inspired in general by Obama's entire campaign. I'm an art student so I knew that I definitely wanted to express that inspiration through art some way. I saw a picture that was taken of Obama napping on his campaign bus, and for some reason that image really stuck with me. It made him seem really normal and ordinary. The concept of him of him sleeping was interesting to me because I felt it provoked the question "What is he dreaming about?". The more I thought about the picture and the idea of him dreaming the more it all seemed to tie in together. It can just be interpreted many different ways I think. "

Congrats to Alex and Steve
the Guys over at the youth movement for getting local recognition in a magazine.
“It’s frustrating as a teenager to see problems that affect you either directly or indirectly yet not be able to vote for the candidate you feel can best solve those problems,” Petkis wrote. But “too many young kids see voting as the be all, end all of civic participation. There are plenty of other ways to effect change in the community, or just get your voice out there.”

Using digital technology, graphic designer Hans Weishäupl has carefully reconstructed portraits of 13 dictators over the past 100 years. However, the photo montages, which measure 1.8 m x 2.3 m do not contain a single piece of original picture material, but are made of countless tiny, specially shot portraits of the citizens of the country the dictator ruled over.
This exhibit, dubbed Faces of Evil, shows the thirteen dictators as they have never been seen before, close-up and vulnerable. The complex photo compositions, have been framed in a way that these leaders would never have tolerated themselves – without uniform, without autocratic gestures, without cheering crowds - just the pure face of their evil. The pictures expose every tiny detail of their faces.
The portrait of Hitler is made up of 37 people. His nose belongs to an estate agent from Berlin, his upper lip is from a locksmiths in Dresden, and so on.
