Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar, I heard one of his songs earlier this month entitled "cut you off" and at the time it was like what i needed to hear. So as the week went on i started listen to more of him and then a few days later he dropped his latest project Overly Dedicated and its been all i listened to for the past few weeks. Hailing from compton he has a aggressive yet laid back style. He has one song on O.D. that has been my theme music for the past few days called the Heart part II take a listen to that and if you like it download or cop the cd on itunes actually mine as well do both.

BJ The Chicago Kid.

First heard of this "kid" because of Levi Maestro he was always with him during Maestro Knows and Levi was always posting videos they made on vimeo so i listened then when they were touring with Anthony Hamilton I saw his skills on there to. So of course i looked for songs, mixtapes, and collaborations and to my suprise i found a bunch of stuff i had actually heard him before on a Dom Kennedy song but never followed up and didnt realize it until after the fact. He writes music for himself and other artist. He has two Mixtapes you can find after the jump and a song with Diz Gibran who you'll see in a later post.

If you follow me on twitter...which you should... (@travisbarkerson) you know that chiddy bang is like my favorite duo ever there like the philly Guru (rip) and Premier but of my generation. Xaphoon Jones the producer flips some songs i wouldnt be aware of if it wasnt for the group this collaborative production with Pharrell is just so dope. Don't lose focus was my theme music this summer. It started playing today on my cell phone earlier today so i got on the computer when i walked in the door and looked for pistols and palm trees apparently its not out yet so i've just been listening to this and that power freestyle he dropped a month ago.
